Thanks
for coming by and visiting my domain. This started as just a spot to post
a few pictures, and grew into what it is now, with over 30 pages of content,
and lots of pictures, movie clips, and other goodies. This
page is your entrance, and the stepping-off point to the varied subjects
in this domain. There are areas in rickubis.com that are informative, and
others that are humorous (well, to me, at least), and others that are just...odd.
Have fun, and thanks for stopping by. Scroll down through the headings
below and you'll get an idea of what's available. Many of the pages are
linked together as well.
The RICKUBISCAM!
will have the most recent updates, pictures, video, and information
about anything that I've done or seen, often including material about Brazos
Bend State Park, and various animals there.
-----------------------------------------Nature----------------------------------------------
Because
of the number of people I meet at the park (This page is NOT affiliated
to the park in any way--and that's how I prefer it.), a lot of the visitors
to this site have come from there. For those who have enjoyed talking to
me in person enough there to come "visit" me here, I've added
short descriptions of my "nature-related" pages. Also, thanks for coming
by! Y'all should know that as much as you may have enjoyed listening, or
talking, to me at the park, I've also enjoyed listening and talking
to you. Thanks! --07/06/2003

Alligators
(New Introduction)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
alligator pages started out as just a few pictures of alligators (inspired,
as many of my other subjects, by my need for RICKUBISCAM
material). Since then, I've seen the alligators do many things, and learned
a lot about them while trying to understand them. Visit these pages and
you'll probably be surprised. Follow me as I discover more about these
wonderful animals. Here's a link to my current alligator
video--40 minutes (windows media 326mb).

Fish--cartilaginous(Chondrichthyes)---Cookie-cutter

I didn't
make this up. There is a fish known as a cookiecutter shark. I met
this odd creature (well, its handiwork) in--of all places--the building
where I work.

Many,
many people are repulsed by these hard-shelled creatures. Why? Well, lots
of reasons, but none of them are really good ones. Go here if you'd like
to understand them a little better. Once again, I learn, through
observation and research, interesting facts about spiders. Here's
a link to my current spider
video--30minutes (windows media 108 mb).

MOST toxic caterpillar in the United States!---------------------------------------------------------
If you
touch one of these, you most probably won't die, but you might wish you
could cut off what you've touched it with.
Large
For Its Type, and It Sprays Acid!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Texas...ah,
Texas. Our climate encourages all types of animals to thrive. I love it
here, and yes, we do have insects that spray acid. Here's one of them.
Cowkillers
and Cicada Killers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
No,
they don't really kill cows. But the other ones do kill cicadas...eventually.
Insects--non-toxic
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Insects
that don't inject or spray toxins that affect humans.
Hammer-Headed
and Hairlike Worms
-------------------------------------------
--
What's
long, flat, and slimy; lives in your garden, and eats earthworms? Or;
what's long, thin, and hairlike, and maybe as creepy as a film like ALIEN?
Critters
BBSP and elsewhere (general critters)---------------------------------
Well,
of course there are other creatures at Brazos Bend State Park besides
alligators and spiders! Go here to see some of them.
Here's
a link to a short video,
a series of clips shot between Sept. and Nov. of 2006--12minutes (windows
media 88,000kb).
Critters
(NOT assigned to a grouped page yet)---------------------------------
If you
look, you can encounter interesting nature almost anywhere. Here are other
creatures I've photographed that I haven't moved in onto the larger groups
yet.

I'm working on.
I have created all the content(with a few exceptions) on *my* pages. That means that I have either shot the video, taken the pictures, or performed any demonstrations. That also means that I've edited every image on these pages, that is, I've cropped, enhanced, resized, labeled, and otherwise optimized every single image on my pages. That means that I've also edited, enhanced, extracted images from, recoded (in two or three or four formats) every *video clip* on these pages. I've also, for better or worse, composed all the text and layout on these pages. I've had to learn to use the various utilities for doing all of this, as well as finding and legally getting copies of them in the first place. I'm also responsible for all the hardware used to do this. I also pay for the server space used for all of this information as well as for my access to it. It costs a lot of money, time, and effort to put these pages out here...hopefully to entertain and to inform. And this is *after* I spend time at my "day job"--which has nothing to do with the internet. People are welcome to the information here, but if it's used elsewhere, then I deserve credit for my effort. If it is used for someone else's profit, then I deserve part of that profit. *That* is the purpose of my notice about copyright.
What
the heck, you came by, why not see what the weather is like? Check out
these cool free...information thingies.
I've
discovered that if you are running "Adsubtract" ad filtering software,
you may not see the weather gizmos below.
Click
here for a webcam in Harriman,
NY. (about 20 mi. SW of Newburgh)
Click

Station, Antarctica.
Why
show the weather for these cities? Well, if you live near any of the first
two, and you don't like the weather, if you look at the third, you should
feel better. If you live near one of the first two,
and you are jealous of the weather in the other of the first two-and
it ruins your day-then I can't help you. Get your whining butt back
into bed. Houston, where I live, had recently had some really bad
weather a few years ago. Take a look here, at when
Allison Hit Houston.
And, here are my captioning links.
